Drift Boss tips and strategy
- Tap rather than hold where possible. Short taps keep the car near the centre of the platform, which is where you want to be on a straight.
- Look at the next corner, not the car. The car's position is already decided by what you did half a second ago.
- Start your hold before the corner arrives, not on it. The car keeps moving while it turns.
- Coins are on the racing line more often than not, so collecting them rarely costs you anything.
- If you are falling consistently on one side, you are holding for too long. Shorten every hold by a fraction.
About Drift Boss
The car sits on a raised track with no guardrails. Hold the input and the car drifts to the right; let go and it drifts to the left. That is the entire control scheme, and the entire skill of the game is managing how long you hold for.
The track is generated as a series of angled platforms. Corners get sharper, the track gets narrower and the gaps between sections get longer as your score climbs. Because the car is always moving, every hold decision is permanent — you cannot brake, and you cannot undo an overshoot.
The one-button design is why it works on literally any device. It plays identically with a mouse, a keyboard or a thumb, which is unusual for a driving game and a big part of why it spread the way it did.
